LADYHAWKE
Ladyhawke first caught our attention with her stunning self titled debut album in 2008. This New Zealand born 80s kid plays the sort of music which the jiving crowd in The Terminator's Tech Noir nightclub sipped their pina coladas to, synths interweaving above a suitably automaton rhythm section that's almost an afterthought and with vocals floating insouciantly in a haze of neon and white powder.

Yes, a lot of sodding immigration papers but, in the case of Red Light Company, you also get a serving of dark lyrical content hiding under glorious geekcore choruses. RLC aren't as uplifting as building a kick-ass Meccano toy – they're way better; a tangled, emotional Scalextric of border-crossing harmonious guitar pop where there's definitely a smile at the finish line.

Think The Streets v The Clash...Trip started making and performing music across the capital, on pirate radio stations and at open mic nights as a live vocalist and MC. A chance meeting with the Scratch Perverts led to another chance meeting with Killa Kela. Not long after, Trip was touring the world with both acts, supporting bands such as NERD, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Red Man and Outkast. Music Week has tipped Trip as "one to watch".

Singer-songwriter Alex J Dunne had already been gigging up and down the country for over a year, before forming Alex & The Ligers in 2007 with guitarist Andy Stewart and Percussionist Jo Lee.
