Dizzee Rascal

Back to Beach Break with a dizzying blend of bullet-fast lyrics and scattergun beats, the master of the mike and our very own ‘boy in da corner’, Mr Dizzee Rascal, will once again grace the Beach Break stage this summer, and we can’t friggin wait.
This platinum selling, Mercury prize winning, lyric spitting, beat bopping king of the urban jungle, last brewed up a storm at Beach Break back in 2009, and the BBL, Dizzee love affair has drawn him into the bosom of the beach, once again.
With breathless energy and invention, Dizzee’s banged out four albums, set up his own label, Dirty Stank Records, and made waves on both sides of the pond with his new mix tape ‘DirteeTV.com’.

Chase & Status

Drum and Bass mayhem makers, Chase and Status are back in the BBL fold this summer, with their special brand of musical bedlam.
No strangers to BBL, the London DJs turned producers, who’ve collaborated with the likes of Rhianna and Plan B, know exactly what to do to whip the Beach Break massive into a frenzy.
Saul ‘Chase’ and Will ‘Status’, who met at Manchester University through a mutual love of Drum and Bass, started out as a DJ duo until their first production in 2004.
Nominated for Best British Band at this year’s Brit Awards and a highly anticipated third album dropping soon, 2012 is going to be even bigger for Chase and Status. Headliners don’t come much better than this!

Friendly Fires

With a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Prize for their first album and a further two Brit nominations under their belt, Friendly Fires have continued to produce genre defying music that has earnt them fans the world over. There isn’t a band with as dynamic a stage presence as this St Albans threesome which is another reason that this band is so well liked by fans across the board. Their sound is a joyous harvesting of many influences spanning dance, indie and pop, the result is their tunes have a party spirit that is set to come alive this summer.

Nero

Nero is two producers Dan Stephens and Joe Ray, and vocalist Alana. Like Magnetic Man, Chase & Status and Sub Focus, Nero have found crossover success with a big room sound which merges drum ‘n’ bass and dubstep with elements of ‘Nineties commercial house and trance. Their music mashes euphoric synth stabs and soaring diva vocals with grinding half-step beats and overdriven, electro bass lines creating an emotional, club-friendly hybrid.
Nero first came to widespread attention with a devastating remix of The Streets ‘Blinded by The Lights’ which transformed the track into a monstrous UK bass banger and was a massive hit with DJ’s from Skream and Tiesto. They’ve subsequently twisted tracks by acts from La Roux to Beyonce. Chase and Status are fans, releasing ‘Innocence’ on their label. They are firm favourites with a whole host of Radio 1 DJ’s Annie Mac and Zane Lowe to name a few.

Maverick Sabre

Take a trip on the soul train with a rising star on the UK pop scene, Maverick Sabre. With distinctive vocals that blend Irish lilt and Hackney grit, you’ll be blown away by this most sublime of singers.
Artfully weaving spoken word, rap and gritty, soulful singing, Maverick has burst onto the music scene, touring with major players Plan B, Snoop Dogg, Chase & Status and Cee-Lo Green.

Labrinth

Now whatever you think of that temple of gash, X Factor, one thing we have to thank Simon Cowell for is the multi-talented Labrinth, the first artist to be signed to the armpit trouser wearer’s record label in six years that isn’t a product of a talent show.
Timothy Machensie, aka Labrinth, has notched up collaborations with the likes of Tinchy Stryder, Chipmunk and most famously, Tinnie Tempah’s single ‘Pass Out’, which reached number one.
With his own single ‘Let the Sun Shine’ hitting number three, this artist looks set for even bigger fame in the coming years.

Wretch 32

Dubbed ‘Metaphor man’ by fellow UK rapper Devlin, Jermaine Scott, aka Wretch 32 is a lyrical gold mine, a rapping man mountain, a one man word machine – right that’s enough of the metaphors.
After a few years stomping the underground circuit, Jermaine emerged into the mainstream with his debut single Traktor, which catapulted to number 5 in the UK charts and found favour with the likes of Radio 1’s Reggie Yates and Jo Whiley.
His reputation for dazzling lyricism and poetic resonance, inspired in part by his upbringing, secured him collaborations with artists such as Tinchy Stryder, Tinie Tempah, Professor Green and Devlin. Wretch’s second album ‘Black and White’ released by Ministry of Sound, reached number 4 in the UK charts.

DJ Fresh

Fresher than an arctic winter, or an entire pack of extra strong mints eaten in one go. What we’re trying to say is his music is hotter than a Scotch Bonnet chilli pepper, or a Caribbean... Oh forget it, DJ Fresh, the undisputed king of dubstep, is bringing the beats to Beach Break this summer.
The first artist to get a dubstep UK number one, makes it his mission to tear up the country’s dance floors. Not literally, he’s not a builder, but he has nailed down club classics such as ‘Hot right now’ as well as a bulging catalogue of party classics.
Co-founder of BC records and website Dogs On Acid, DJ Fresh has been on the scene for time and is responsible for producing Knowledge magazine’s greatest Drum and Bass track ever. Fresh has worked with a whole host of artists during his career including DJ Shadow, The Pet Shop Boys and Andy C, and has artists like Pendulum signed to his label. Most importantly he’s set to bring his amazing new FRESH/LIVE tour to a select number of epic venues across the UK, and we’re one of the chosen few!

Smoother than double cream, Devon based singer/songwriter, Ben Howard, has captured the hearts of music lovers everywhere with his dulcet tones and heartfelt lyrics. This groundbreaking performer, whose music draws parallels with the likes of Roots Manuva, Mike Skinner and Tricky, has forged his own brand of music that mingles heavyweight electronic beats with insightful ramblings on modern, everyday life.
Obaro Ejimiwe, as he’s otherwise known, is widely considered one of London’s most interesting and unique emerging talents. His debut album ‘Peanut Butter Blues and Melancoly Jam’ has received rave reviews and has led to UK tours with Metronomy, Jamie Woon, as well as a solo tour.

Rodigan

According to Kiss FM, What legendary selecta David Rodigan doesn’t know about reggae and dub isn’t worth knowing. Rodigan began his reggae broadcasting career in 1978 and these days is largely considered the top dog of the reggae playing waves.
David has had residencies for Capital Radio, BFBS and most notoriously on Kiss FM, bringing the best of reggae to the masses on his weekly Sunday show Rodigan’s Reggae. With an international reputation for his encyclopaedic knowledge of reggae, Rodigan is Britains go to man for bass heavy beats.

22 year old James ‘Jakwob’ Jacobs shot to fame with his superb addition/collaboration with Ellie Goulding’s single ‘Starry Eyed’. With over 17 millions hits on Youtube, Jakwob is deservedly, extremely hot property and has received the support of Radio 1 tastemakers Annie Mac and Zane Lowe. Signed to Mercury records, Jakwob has produced remixes for the likes of M.I.A right through to Temper Trap and is in great demand for his electic, dynamic DJ sets. The man behind the jam, Pete Dalton, is renowned as one of the go-to-men for breaking new music on British radio.
Snapped up by Radio One in his home town of Nottingham in 2005, he rocketed to fame for his bang on taste in tunes and talent for exploding the dance floor.
You can catch Mistajams renown DJ sets on Radio One and 1Xtra every Saturday Night 11pm-1am and Mon-Thursday 7pm-10pm with the best of the Underground Mistajam stylie. It will only whet your appetite more for when he tears up the decks at BBL 2012!

Skream

Ollie 'Skream' Jones is on a major roll. The 24 year old Croydon DJ, producer and original dubstepper had the festival anthem of last year with his Let's Get Ravey remix of La Roux's 'In For The Kill'; he's just been featured on the cover of NME with his Magnetic Man co-stars Benga and Artwork; and as we speak, he is all over Radio 1 with the first single from his second solo album, Outside The Box. Album aside, life is a whirlwind of DJ bookings and production for Oliver Jones - and, most weeks, you can catch his Rinse FM show–now alongside Benga–where listeners get to hear new tunes and Skream and Benga's inimitable banter. There will be a bonus edition of the album with another four or five tracks on it, and another Skreamizm EP later in the year, as well as the Magnetic Man live shows and album. It's going to a big summer, inside and outside the box.

Aside from the best haircut in dubstep, Benga has a lot to be happy about. At 15 he released his debut 12” “Skank/Dose” on one of dubstep’s founding imprints, Big Apple. A&Red by one of the most influential DJs in dubstep, DJ Hatcha, the label was run out of the Croydon shop of the same name, the hangout for much of the early pioneers and future stars such as Artwork, Horsepower, Hatcha, Chef, Plastician and Skream. Since then he’s had releases on electronic stables Planet Mu and Hotflush, self released his own CD and become a respected DJ in his own right, playing throughout Europe and Australasia. He's also one third of Magnetic Man, produced songs for Katy B and writing his new album out in 2012.

Poet, spoken word performer and general beard lover Scroobius Pip is one half of the duo Dan le Sac v. Scroobiuos Pip. This duo were brought to fame for their single ‘Thou Shall Not Always Kill was instantly held as an underground hit, with poignant lyrics and computer like electro beats. Scroobius Pip also performs his special brand of British Hip Hop as a solo project showcasing his enthralling poetic style as well as his amazing rapping abilities. Legendary Leeds born dubstep record producer and DJ, Rusko, has built up a rep among the dubstep massive for his uniquely energetic and fun take on the music scene.
Responsible for huge hits such as ‘Cockney Thug’, Christopher Mercer, aka Rusko, has played with every self respecting DJ under the sun, from Pete Tong to Switch, Diplo and Santogold.
Now part of the Mad Decent Camp, he’s setting the radio airwaves alight with his own productions and remixes of artists such as The Prodigy, Basement Jaxx, Little Boots and Scratch Perverts. Rusko is only going in one direction – onwards and upwards. Like Superman, but without the cape and spandex.

Signed to Fatboy Slim’s label Southern Fried Records, Manc band The Whip are the hottest electro band on the scene right now. Making dance music with proper instruments rather than a bunch of laptops, their live performances are second to none. These guys chuck in a healthy spoonful of Manc indie passion and energy into their dance music blancmange, whip it all together and serve themselves up as a bowl-full of festival delights.

Belgium’s finest Drum and Bass export, hold on a sec... Belgium’s only Drum and Bass export, Netsky is none the less a shining light in a fresh wave of European D&B talent.
This guy’s magnetic blend of uplifting melodies and heavy bass driven beats has caught the eye of D&B legends such as DJ Hype and Fabio, as well as snapping up Best Newcomer Producer in 2010.
As well as sending crowds into ecstatic, bouncing ravers with his insanely hectic DJ sets, he’s created some tantalising remixes that are also turning heads.
Things are not slowing down for Netsky in 2012 either, with a new album to follow the huge success of ‘Netsky’, before he spins his magic on the BBL decks.

Clement Marfo & The Frontline

Anyone for a little euphoric rave-grime pop? Then this south London collective are just the ticket! If you haven’t seen this act live yet, you are in for a serious treat people. A blend of hip hop lyrics, punchy rock rhythms and the occasional stage dive, Clement Marfo are hotly tipped for success in 2012 by MTV.
They have already gained support form Radio 1 heavyweight DJ’s Zane Lowe, Semtex and Huw Stephens as well as a string of live performances with artists such as Florence and the Machine and Example to name but a few.

The award-winning Irish duo have audiences in stitches with their fun-loving, quick witted brand of lyrical entertainment.
As hip hop as Graham Norton, Abandoman have supported the likes of legendary comedian Tommy Tiernan, toured all over the UK and held a weekly residence with BBC6 Music.

Presiding over an electronic melting pot of techno, electro, Futureg Garage, drum'n'bass and dubstep doused with hip-hop and splashes of indie; Doorly's movement behind the decks is relentless. Scratching and splicing riffs, loops, beats and bass to form a sonically seamless, mash-up masterpiece as seen on his recent Radio 1 mini-mix for Annie Mac; it's understandable that Doorly is often described as 'an old school block party DJ using new school technology'. Brother and Bones

Cornwall five piece, Brother and Bones is a difficult band to pin down. Resting somewhere between Folk and Rock, they combine beautifully melodic acoustic guitars with strong rhythmic bass lines to create a sound that is entirely their own. Critics say they bridge the gap between the delicate and the destructive and they already won Best Live Band and Best Show award at South West Live awards for their multiple festival appearances. Pioneering artist and international D&B extraordinaire, Danny Byrd needs no introduction. Ok, here’s one anyway. One of Hospital Records’ first signings, he’s earned a global rep as a legend of the Drum and Bass scene for his unique blend of House, Hip Hop and R&B. This Bath based DJ is responsible for some of the most indisputably major rave anthems of our time. Annie Mac, Andy C and Zane Lowe are all huge fans. High praise indeed.

Austrians know how to throw a party, right? Right? Well this pair have ditched the lederhosen, signed up to Hospitality and shaped a rep as the hottest European ticket this side of Salzburg.
And Camo and Krooked are no one trick pony either, dipping their toes in Electro- House, Dubstep and everything in between, to create the stuff of Bass filled dreams. Last year saw collaborations with Ayah Marah, TC and Messy MC and as well as a blow out live tour. The pair is working hard to make 2012 just as spectacular.

Dastardly D&B duo, Fred V & Grafix, are the latest signing to the Hospitality family. After five years of mutual music making, this Devon combo has been making names for themselves in the Drum and Bass scene. With some stunning remixes for artists like Emelie Sandi and Skepta, as well as their own creations, the future is filled with exciting things for Fred V & Grafix.

Toddla T aka Tom Bell is no screaming baby, despite what his name suggests.
Signed to the legendary Ninja Tune Record label with two hit albums under his belt, as well as productions for artist such a Roots Manuva and Ms Dynamite (to name but a few) he’s a fully grown up DJ. The Sheffield boy has a slew of hit remixes under his belt for artists like Hot Chip and Gyptian and has been invited to DJ around the world. Drum and Bass heavyweight High Contrast has a global rep as one of the kingpins of the dance music scene. This Welsh wonder knows his way around a remix too, earning recognition for his re-working of Adele and Eric Prydz, to name but a few. Dubbed the Queen of UK Bass, if you don’t already know Ayah Marar, you should. Ayah has collaborations with Calvin Harris and Toddla T under her belt and a fast growing reputation for being a major player in the bass music scene. With her infectious vocals, a seriously impressive hairstyle to boot and a new album to drop this summer, Ayah is set to storm the music world this year.

Wrec

Veteran master of the mic with 15 years in the game, a bucket load of shows and seven world tours under his belt, Wrec has the well earned rep as one of the most versatile and in demand MCs in the world.
Rocking shows from NYC to Tokyo, his work and long-time affiliations with critically acclaimed acts including High Contrast, The Nextmen, Stanton Warriors, Tony Colman and Timo Maas have seen him perform on some of the world’s biggest stages.
He also fronted the legendary London Elektricity band and has toured alongside Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Cypress Hill, Beastie Boys and Calvin Harris. The Savage Nomads

Not all bands can count Mick Jones from the Clash as a fan, but this bunch of savage nomads seemed to have coaxed him round. This London four piece, despite their name making them seem like half-naked nutters with spears, create an altogether more melodic sound, calling on elements of rock, r‘n’b and pop with quirky vocals, bringing it all together in a surprisingly un-savage package. They have supported Big Audio Dynamite on tour and garnered attention from Radio 1 DJs, as much for their impeccable writing skills as for their dynamic live performances.

Charlotte O'Connor

Singer songwriter Charlotte O’Conner, from sunny Blackburn, is riding the waves of success after becoming the first artist to be signed to Quicksilver records.
With her quirky brand of acoustic folk and soul, the 20 year old is already charming audiences the world over, touring with Quicksilver and performing at events such as the Quicksilver Pro New York in Long Island and supporting the likes of Newton Faulkner, James Morrison, The Script and Lissie. Her debut album ‘For Kenny’ is due out later this year, no doubt filled with her of laidback vocals and a touch of soul.

The clue’s in the name for this truly class act who blows up the mic with his own brand of lyrical genius.
Well renowned for his MC prowess, from his early drum ‘n’ bass roots with legendary Full Cycle and Roni Size Reprazent, Dynamite continues to bring it to crowds across the world and shows no sign of slowing down.
Having performed countless times with the likes of Roni Size, Gilles Peterson and Marky, Dynamite is working on material for his new album involving collaborations with artists Jack Beats, Skream and many more. Dynamite, we salute you.

I-Kay

Singing since the tender age of 13 and supporting some major players in the R ‘n’ B world, I-Kay’s soulful lyrical style has made him a popular choice for a host of Hospitality DJ’s such as Danny Byrd. His vocals on ‘Ill Behaviour’ reached number 7 on the UK Dance chart and is an underground dance anthem. I-Kay is all about the emotion, citing Stevie Wonder as a major influence which provides an infectious contrast to the big bass tracks he is renowned for featuring on.
