Flubber The Rubber Dubber

BBL is about more than just music. Absorb a library of entertainments.... a beach holiday.... outdoor pursuits... not to mention the assorted stuff ’n’ nonsense.... participation is actively encouraged. Surrealism may not be everyone’s cup of zebra fur, but it certainly swings our chandelier.

Details on what 2010 will hold will start to be released in January, but read on for a sense of what has come before.

In 2007 Beach Break Live developed its very own sense of mischief and random fun. In 2008 we forged forward with even more carefully crafted chaos; curated by the esteemed Mr. Hugo Tracey, illegitimate lovechild of David Hasselhoff and Christopher Biggins, and Jimbo, his rib tickling, cute comedy nephew. 2009 saw the wonderfully silly Bearded Kittens provide us with some of the funniest moments of the festival at The Cornish/Kentish Games Arena where the Chester boys, lap danced their way to a sensationally sordid victory over the lads from Sparta.....!

2010 will push the already vertically momentous bar higher. We’re talking:

...Silent Discos, Camp Fire’s, Fancy Dress Finale’s, Workshops – burlesque, cocktail making, parkour, circus skills, magic school, mask making, yoga, craft making, knitting, graffiti battles, ballroom dancing....vintage funfair fun, beach volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, surf trips, coasteering, swimming, karaoke, pub quizzes, Open Mic, WORLD CUP footie action, giant chess, giant skittles, giant dominoes – in fact all manner of things ‘giant’, beach BBQ’s, Thai style beach parties, Hot Tubs, Yurts, street theatre, mass paint fights, market stalls, kite flying... the list goes on, and on, and on...and on a bit more. Not forgetting the music, the ski slope, the beach, the toboggan run (yes, I know, a toboggan run...totally random, but totally brilliant), and of course you guys creating your own unique festy fun.

BBL 2010 is a never ending work in progress so keep checking back for updates on everything planned for your truly epic BBL ‘oliday’. If you would like to see something in particular at BBL 2010 check out the Get Involved page on the website and...get involved! The Mighty Celtic Games........Hosted By The Bearded Kittens!

Roll up roll up, the Mighty Celtic Games of 2010 are almost upon us and this year we mean business. We’re upping the ante, playing Jeremy Paxman and inviting our revellers to show they’re support for their institutions in University Challenge! People can play the games as individuals or as teams, where there scores shall be written up on the leader board. Rather than a test of wits this one is a true test of twits, where 16 teams must battle it out in an FA Cup style knock out competition. Below is a wee taster of the games that may assist in the choosing of your team.

Click here to enter your team! Please enter Cornish Games into the title and leave the names and phone numbers of each team member and think of a classic silly name for your team. Each team must have 4 players. You must also don some interesting, unique, ridiculous sports kit / strip and have your own war cry!

Win prizes and the respect of your peers in this combined harvest of hilarity…

*Zorb Skittles*
Absolutely no idiots will be harmed in the par taking of this event! Is simply skittles apart for the ball is 8ft tall containing our challenger and the skittles are other contestants with their legs tied together!

*Blind Fold Long Jump*
That’s right, the Olympic classic turned on its head using a blindfold! Your relying on the shouts from your team-mates as to know when to jump, the records a mere 1.7 metres so step up one and all!

*Granny Grand Prix*
A race like no other, a cumbersome shuffle to the Coffee morning involving absolutely no ageism or stereotyping what so ever... Our players must don a floral gown, pick up their walking stick and set off. Along the way they must grab some hair rollers, put their shower cap on, do a jigsaw, decorate a cake among other aged traits!

*Binocular Football*
Paying our bearded respects to a fantastic Japanese game show. Players don hands free binoculars and then its merely regulation 5a-side football, but wearing binoculars!

*Slippery Tug of War*
The classic game of strength, balance and grip… only with a bearded twist! Teams compete against each other while all the while keeping upright on a slippery bit of tarpaulin.

*3 Legged Rounder’s*
The classic game we all played at school, but with a little ‘Bearded’ twist. Players tie there legs together and have to run round the pitch while the 3 legged fielders try and get the ball. Hilarious!

*In Tense*
Camping is all part of the fun when you’re at a festival. But how many people can you fit in a single tent? The Bearded Kitten record is 17 shoppers on Brick Lane one Sunday. Teams have two minutes to get as many people as possible in and out of a tent!

Burlesque

''Twinkle Starr, as her name suggests, is both rising and sparkling on the burlesque club circuit. Cute, feminine and good fun - that’s the style of this petite performer who sings and dances her way through her quirky routines.” (Kittie Klaw, Ministry of Burlesque Talent Agency). After five years training in mainstream theatre, Twinkle Starr decided to rebel and join the burlesque revolution. Twinkle Starr has been warmly welcomed since establishing her own inimitable style two years ago. With a penchant for the cute and quirky, she enjoys using parody and satirical elements to create entertaining and original acts.
