On and Off-site Activities

Beach Break Live is about experiences. More importantly it’s about combining experiences. One minute you’re sun bathing, then you’re watching a band, next you’re snowboarding. Enter Wales – Britain’s very own Wild West. The rugged coastline and stunning countryside provide the perfect backdrop for those near-the-edge experiences and have turned the country into a magnet for fun busters and adventurists from all over the UK. Being based in Pembrey Country Park, Carmarthenshire, we are able to fulfil the Beach Break Live dream and bring you some of the best extreme sports and outdoor activities on offer. Check out the below for a taster of what’s in store for 2010...

Go Ape

It’s not in the dictionary, but if it was, Go Ape would be described as a ‘high-wire forest adventure where Ewoks would live if they moved to planet earth’. Behold wondrous giant obstacle courses up in the trees using ladders, walkways, bridges and tunnels made of wood, rope, brick... and some super-strong wire. Kitted out with harnesses, pulleys and karabiners, you’re let loose into the forest canopy, free to swing through the trees. The result is spectacular. The Go Ape experience gets the adrenalin pumping, gets people out of their comfort zones and above all (no pun intended), it’s just great fun.
You’ll have to pre-book your monkey session before coming down as places are limited so check back soon for details on how to do this and all other shizzle nizzle.

Horse Riding through the Forestry

Feeling a touch of cabin fever coming on? Worry not, for the Park has its very own Equestrian Centre and is offering you guys the chance to leave the twinkly lights and magical sounds of BBL (briefly) behind and embark on a tranquil horse ride through the stunning surrounding forestry. With some of the best horse riding terrain the UK has to offer this is a unique and fun way to see the glorious sights of Carmarthenshire, be at one with nature...and yourself...at least until your next trip to the dance tent. Ye- ha!
To take advantage of this activity you will need to pre-book your ride (so we can get the horses ready and know the numbers.) Prices will be specifically tailored for you – definitely student friendly, so check back soon when bookings are open.

Sphere Mania

Brilliant. New for the Park and new for us, Sphere Mania will be making an exciting addition to our array of on-site activities. The concept is simple, two people, wearing full body harnesses are attached inside a giant sphere (the pinnacle of inflatable and ‘hill rolling’ technology), then rolled down a hill at up to 30mph. Not for the faint hearted, definitely not a ‘gentle ride’ but one heck of an adrenaline rush....wahoooooooo!
Pre-ordering your ‘roll’ is essential as spaces will be limited. A booking link specifically for Beach Breakers to book their ride at a totally tropical student friendly price will be available soon – so keep checking back.

Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding - an extreme sport for softies created by the older skateboarder who gave up because the concrete seemed less soft the older he got. Jokes. Incredibly fun, incredibly wet, easy to master and (depending on popularity) available to do at this year's festival! In order to gage an idea of the numbers of people hoping to participate in wakeboarding at the event please send us an email to wakeboard@beachbreaklive.com with your name with WAKEBOARD as the subject. The more people that would like to do it, the more likely it is to happen – so get emailing and watch this space!

Wind Sports

Kite buggying starter sessions, windsurfing, kite surfing...it’s all g’wan down at the beach.
Exact details coming soon...

Surfing

Seemingly impossible to master yet totally gracious to watch when the experienced liquid ballet dancers get their groove on. Surfing is definitely back on the agenda this year. Although Pembrey is not famous for its waves, on its day it can be a cracking little pearler. We’ll be on our prayer mats again to Gilgermesh, God of Summer weather to throw some swell our way. We’ll be organising surf lessons for beginners at the nearest beach with surf – details of which are tbc. Those of you surf pro’s that would be interested in a daily early morning excursion to the best surf please send an email to surf@beachbreaklive.com and we’ll post info up on the website soon.
Bring your boards, it’s gonna be slippery, yeaoooooow

Coasteering

Ever wanted to jump off the Eiffel Tower just for the buzz. Well here's a chance to do it without going splat! It’s one of our favourite mad sports that we strongly recommend anyone doing. Climb sea cliffs, traverse rocks, explore sea caves, squeeze into ridiculously tight wetsuits but best of all, jump into the water from silly heights, all in the safe hands of local seafarers and helly hansen life jackets!
We’re hooking up with one of South Wales’ finest adventure providers to give you the opportunity to try coasteering for yourself whilst at BBL. Places will be limited so pre-booking your cliff-side Indianna Jones-esque adventure is a must. Details available in a jiffy (bag)...
More adventurous outdoor excursions to come. It’s all SO exciting...
